When.....

I have been asked numerous times "How did I decide to go through the process of making S2400 into Law"  My honest response is "I don't know"?.  I will be frank...I never set out to make Law.  I set out to find a way to teach my daughter to read...  I became so frustrated with the system and all the hoops they make you jump through that I became angry. I could not make any sense out of what the school system was telling me....They said she had a learning disability>..I know that it is called dyslexia I know because I paid to have my daughter diagnosed from different specialist.  All agreed it was dyslexia a reading disability.  yet when I went to the school it was "a learning disability"  Once Samantha was put on the right track of learning.  I felt exhausted from all the fighting,  the cover-ups the horrible things said to me as a parent I just wanted to try to help the next parent that would come a long.  I wen to Assemblyman Albano and told him how mad I had become at the school system and he asked me what I wanted to do?  I told him I want to make a difference.  I want to make sure that no more children had to go through what Sammie and I had gone through.  Did I know it would mean changing the law in NJ honestly no I did not..  However I'm so happy to have made a difference for the next family....

Thank you so much for your post. I now know that I'm not the only parent out there fighting for a child that is dyslexic! I will continue to follow. Again, thanks!
